Everyday we think about the hurts others have caused
Because in some way or other we are all flawed
But we never stop to think about what others have lost
Nor when we argue what the end hurt may cost
We refuse to stop and think were things may lead
Seeing but not seeing what others may need
Many of us use words that we don't know truly how to define
We have regrets, many instances were we wish we could have pressed rewind
Lost souls on a journey to re find and redefine the person that we left behind
After some incident has stripped us of our simple existence
And we can't go back to who we were because there is resistance
Not outer but inner because innocence lost cannot be regained
So we become one in the masses, culturally maimed
And socially stained, owing to the fact that we can't regain
The virtue that we once had and the naivete with which we were blessed
The reason being that our God given intellect causes us to neglect
That there is much which we deem fit to ignore
As long as we see other things we would more readily explore
Because we can say we love but there is really no love
Because when its finally all said and done
We never truly felt the feelings that we feinted were there
And the people we "loved" will be tossed to the side without a care
When will you see the pain you have caused others
Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and so called lovers
How many times have you heard someone without truly listening?
Saw the hurt in someone's eyes but not the telltale glistening
Of tears waiting to fall but that will never ever be shed
Because the hurt and pain they keep is inside their heart and head
Torturing their existence when left to their own devices
Until finally they are those who are truly lifeless
Finding no comfort in the things which they once enjoyed
No solace in the amusements they once employed
How many times will you look at another without seeing who they really are
Solid as the life giving earth or as bright as a light giving star
Deep, cool and strong as the boundless ocean
Or as swift and fluttering as the wind in its motion
We sit around and we ponder and reflect on all the things we regret
And all those things that hurt so deep but we can't seem to forget
But we have to work hard to get better at being who we are everyday
And the harder you struggle to be better the better you will be in every way
It's past due time for us to start heeding our senses
And turn outward our inner looking lenses
Because together we can banish all the demons that plague our existence
And soon all the pain will just be a vague reminiscing
So stop all the mindless and needless introspection
Because without a mirror you can find a reflection
